North Yunderup Habitat Group
We have the privilege of living in an area of significant biodiversity. A recent full day workshop with Dr Simon Cherriman has led to the formation of a group of residents passionate about providing our local birds and marsupials with suitable nesting hollows.
Habitat loss due to urban sprawl, land clearing, and resource extraction has pushed hundreds of species towards extinction. We can be the change! Short-cutting the 100 year process required to produce a nesting hollow by providing nesting boxes gives many of our birds, marsupials and reptiles somewhere safe to nest and raise their young.
Have you got a tree or two in your garden where you could install a nesting box? How amazing being able to watch a little pardalote, a pair of redcap parrots or a family of possums take up residence.

We aim to meet and construct boxes and to work together on installation around our community. It’s a low demand group and a great opportunity to work alongside others with a keen interest in providing our local furry, feathered and scaly friends with fit-for-purpose habitat.

ORDERING YOUR NESTING BOX
All nesting boxes are made locally from materials rescued from sheds and building sites. Nesting boxes come fully constructed, including being painted and having the necessary wiring for installation.
Introductory nesting box prices are as follows, and nest-boxes are able to be ordered by filling in the form. The Habitat Group will organise a time for you to pick up your nesting box and to make payment either by card or cash.
