North Yunderup Community Pantry

The NY Community Pantry is open to all members of our community.

Did you know that Australia produces over 7.6 million tonnes of food waste each year – and 70% of that is perfectly good food! Our annual food waste contributes to 3% of our greenhouse gas emissions. And yet 3.5 million homes in Australia face food insecurity.

The Community Pantry rescues food destined for landfill and offers it to our community. An amazing range of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as bakery items are available each week. There’s always food donated in our community to add to the mix – pantry and garden items.

A range of food items are available from12.30 and when we pack up around 2pm, anything left it put out under the hall’s portico (up the ramp) for those unable to come during opening hours.

When: Every Friday at 12.30pm

Where: NY Community Hall

ENOUGH TO SHARE?

Is your garden bursting with too much goodness? Fruit, vegies, herbs… Do you have enough to share with others?

What about those pantry items you thought you’d use and yet there they sit, waiting for their moment in the sun… or the pan.

We gratefully accept garden and pantry excess and off it goes to a new home.

If you have anything to donate, please do drop it into the NY Community Hall on Friday from 12.15pm.

JOIN THE TEAM

Would you like to be part of the amazing little team running the Community Pantry? You know the saying… many hands make light work! It’s not an every week commitment – just do what you can when you have time.

Joining the Community Pantry is a fun and social experience. We pick up food in Pinjarra and lay it out in the hall ready for hungry tummies. We meet at the hall (2 people each week) at 11.15am and we’re all finished up and out the door by 2pm at the latest.

If you’d like to be part of something that’s full of heart and beneficial to our community, fill in the form and we’ll be in touch.
