About

North Yunderup Community Association

The North Yunderup Community Association (NYCA) is run by a group of volunteers working closely together to support, beautify and enrich the North Yunderup community.

North Yunderup Community Association membership is only $10 per family, per year. That money is put towards a range of activities within our little community each year.

Committee

The NYCA committee meet once each calendar month in the Community Hall. An AGM is held early each calendar year, and we encourage all residents to come along and have a say, share their ideas, and meet other locals.

Our rich heritage

Traditional custodians

North Yunderup is in the heart of the Murray wetland area, Bindjareb Boodja, meaning ‘swamp country’ in Noongar. As an area rich in biodiversity, it has supported families for over 60,000 years with plentiful food sources.

Cooper’s Mill

The heritage listed ‘Cooper’s Mill’ site at the end of Tonkin Drive was built by Joseph Cooper on Culeenup Island in 1843. It’s purpose was to grind wheat for Pinjarra and Coolup farmers. Now restored, it stands as a reminder of the early colonisation of the area and is a picnic destination for families who are able to access the site by boat.

Sponsors

The North Yunderup Community Association website is generously sponsored by local businesses serving our community. We encourage you to find out about and use these businesses who care about us and our community.

Grants & Funding

The North Yunderup community is grateful for the generous financial support of the following organisations through grant programs.
